Young Music Scholars Program

Our programs are meant to enrich the lives of our students and communities, regardless of socioeconomic status. That is why in 2010, MYAC started the Young Music Scholars and Young Music Scholars Mentors Program, also known as YMS. YMS is for students who need financial support to supplement their musical studies in school with private lessons and exceptional ensemble experiences.

In addition to being full members of MYAC ensembles, YMS students receive private instruction from professional teachers and mentorship from advanced students on Thursday afternoons/evenings under the nominal tuition rate of $100 per school year.

Three major concerts showcase our orchestras’ hard work and are held during the year at Pick-Staiger Hall at Northwestern University campus and other remarkable concert venues.

Additionally, YMS students perform a solo recital twice a year. These recitals give students the opportunity to play alongside a piano accompanist. MYAC also holds auditions annually to encourage and allow for students to advance to the next level orchestra when they feel ready.

YMS students have the opportunity to join at the nomination of a teacher. If you know a student for whom this program would be most beneficial, submit the form below, or contact Christopher Gottardi-Littell (christopher@mya.org) or call (847) 926-9898.

Nominations received now will be considered for the 2026-2027 season.
