Family Music Time - Newborn to 3.5 years
Wednesdays 1pm-2pm (Winter Session: Jan 6 - Mar 17, 2027) (Spring Session: Mar 31 - Jun 9, 2027)
Our Family Music Time class welcomes all little ones from Newborns to Toddlers, and is filled with singing, movement, listening, and active music making appropriate for a mixed age group. All children will build a deep musical understanding through joyful participation. This is a great opportunity for babies and toddlers to mingle, learn, and play with each other. Parents, too! Musikgarten’s program addresses the unique developmental needs of children at each age, taking children from infancy up through when they are ready to take on their instrument of choice. Classes are designed for children to “grow up” with Musikgarten. In fact, most children and parents love Musikgarten classes so much, it is not uncommon for a family to continue with Musikgarten until the child is ready for private lessons and band or orchestra. Musikgarten offers a comprehensive curriculum, creating a natural bridge from early childhood music to private instruction.

Why Musikgarten: Musikgarten and MYAC believe early childhood music should be measured by quality, depth, joy, and lasting impact. These childhood programs are thoughtfully designed, carefully implemented, and fully supported. Musikgarten is thoughtfully designed & environmentally minded, and takes pride in research-based learning, expert teachers, and experience you can trust.
Research-Based Learning: Music and movement play a powerful role in child development. Research shows that early music experiences can support language and literacy development, strengthen pattern recognition skills essential for mathematical thinking, and nurture social and emotional growth.
Expert Teachers: Musikgarten teachers are expertly trained and continuously supported. They combine a deep love of music with a strong understanding of child development, creating lessons that engage both children and families. Through folk music, movement, and joyful activities, learning feels natural, meaningful, and fun.
Thoughtfully Designed & Environmentally Minded: Musikgarten embraces simplicity and sustainability. Materials are intentionally designed, with minimal packaging and an emphasis on durability and beauty. Many family materials include natural instruments and reusable cloth bags. Choices that reflect care for children, families, and the world they grow up in.
Experience You Can Trust: Musikgarten was shaped by pioneers in early childhood music education. Dr. Lorna Lutz Heyge spent more than 30 years developing curriculum grounded in how children truly learn, while Audrey Sillick trained educators for decades. This depth of experience is woven into every aspect of the program.
