How and when did you first hear about MYAC?

I first learned about MYAC from my former teacher who is a ‘93 alum, MYAC’s very first season.

What is one thing about MYAC that initially impressed you?

I was extremely impressed by not only the level of skill I saw demonstrated by these young musicians, but also the dedication and immense love of music they all share. It really is a delight and extremely inspiring seeing them perform.

What is your favorite thing about your role here?

I love interacting with the students/families and building a sense of community. This is something I believe sets MYAC apart from other organizations.

What is your professional background, and how do you bring that experience to your role here?

My professional background includes being a musician, teacher, and graduate assistant.

My time as a graduate assistant at Illinois State really helped me prepare for MYAC as I would help run their after school music program, conduct private/group lessons, and was responsible for making copies of music, programs, homework etc..

As a professional musician, I understand how orchestras and chamber music groups need to function. I hope that my passion for music will help contribute to my role as a program coordinator.

What is one thing you’ve learned about MYAC after you started working here?

I’ve learned that MYAC is always a busy place. There are so many various events, performances, recordings, etc., continuously occurring which really keeps me on my toes. Never a dull moment here!
