Midwest Young Artists Conversatory is proud to present the Chicago Trumpet Workshop! Students can study and perform works from the rich canon of trumpet solo and ensemble repertoire, as well as transcriptions from some of Western Music's greatest masters. It's a great opportunity to work with some of Chicago-land's finest trumpet students and forge life-long friendships, all while studying in a beautiful facility, building new skills, and meeting amazing teachers!

The Chicago Trumpet Workshop takes place at the historic MYAC Center in Fort Sheridan at 878 Lyster Road, Highwood, IL. Students will attend daily warm-up sessions, coachings, performance classes, and private lessons by established faculty members.

Auditions

All students must complete a pre-screening audition that includes a video recording of a solo work or etude of their choice. The purpose of the pre-screening process is to gauge student skill level.

Sample Daily Schedule

1:00 - 1:30 p.m: Announcements & Warm-Up Sessions

1:30 - 2:30 p.m: Private Lessons and Coachings

2:30 - 3:30 p.m.: Master Class (various topics)

3:30 - 3:45 p.m.: Break

3:45 - 4:45 p.m: Private Lessons and Practice

14:45 - 6:00 p.m.: Performance Class

6:00 - 6:45 p.m.: Trumpet Ensemble (s) rehearsal(s)

Faculty

Trumpeter Christopher J. O'Hara is the Brass Department Chair at South Shore Conservatory. He has performed over 2,000 events across 47 states and in 10 countries. He was a founding member of the internationally renown Synergy Brass Quintet.

Who

MYAC's Chicago Trumpet Workshop is open to all trumpet students between the ages of 14 and 18. Students should have a solid background in music and should be taking private lessons.

Tuition

Tuition for the Chicago Trumpet Workshop is $500.

Financial Aid is available to those who qualify. We ask that the Financial Aid Application be received at the same time as the Secure Online Application.

Tuition is due in full by May 15, 2018. Tuition payments can be made here.

Housing with MYAC families is available for $250. Please email us at mya@mya.org if you are interested in housing.

All summer deposits are non-refundable. Tuition payments are non-refundable unless a detailed medical doctor's note is submitted at least two weeks before the beginning of the workshop or camp; absolutely no refunds are issued after two weeks before the beginning of the camp.

Application

Students wishing to attend the Chicago Trumpet Workshop must complete and submit the Secure Online Application found below and submit the $50 non-refundable application fee at the link posted below (applicable to tuition upon enrollment).

Priority will be given to applicants who submit all required materials by May 1, 2018.
