Midwest Young Artists' nationally recognized Summer Music Festival has an outstanding faculty, nurturing staff and is held in a beautiful and comfortable setting. While our summer program has a strong focus on chamber music, students may also participate in our Evening Orchestra. In addition we offer courses in music theory, conducting, as well as a sonata class. - A Nurturing and Supportive Environment
Our faculty members residential campers, we have caring and supportive staff on hand 24 hours a day. - A Welcoming Environment for International Students
We have had students attend our Strings and Piano Workshop in past years from Germany, Switzerland, Bolivia, South Africa and China. This year we have added an elective for students to take ESL classes each day. We will also house international students with an English-speaking roommate to gain confidence and skills through conversations and friendships. Location
Our residential programs are held on the lovely campus of Carthage College located in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Students stay in dormitories with one roommate, with easy accessibility to rehearsals, performances and the cafeteria. In addition, Carthage College has excellent athletic facilities along with a state of the art swimming pool. Located on the shores of Lake Michigan, there are scenic bicycle and jogging paths that extend into the heart of downtown Kenosha. This serene setting provides the perfect environment for inspiring young musicians.

Strings and Piano Workshop Daily Schedule
Chamber Music Workshop for Strings and Piano offers chamber music study and performances, inspirational master classes and electives, including private lessons with outstanding faculty. The Chamber Music Workshop aids students in developing their interpretive and communicative skills while studying chamber repertoire.
Students will take part in a selected chamber music ensemble, grouped by age and ability (pre-formed ensembles may participate as well). Chamber ensemble concerts will take place in the evenings, giving each group frequent opportunities to perform.

Student Eligibility
Strings and Piano Workshop will accept serious string players to fill 16 ensembles. Additionally, up to four pianists and one double bass will be accepted. MYA's String and Piano Workshop is made by "rolling admission", with earlier applications having a greater likelihood of entrance (finding suitable chamber music partners). Chamber Music Workshop for Strings and Piano is for students who have completed 6th grade by summer 2010.
Tuition and Application
Students wishing to attend the Chamber Music Workshop for Strings & Piano must complete the Secure Online Application and submit the $75 non-refundable application fee. This application fee will be applied toward summer workshop tuition for students who enroll. As described in the online application form, a recording, clearly labeled with your name and “2010 Strings & Piano Workshop” must be mailed under separate cover. Financial assistance is available.
Application Deadline
All materials should be mailed in as soon as possible. Students will be notified of their acceptance when all materials have been submitted and we have determined that there is an ensemble placement.
Upon receiving notification of your acceptance, you must remit a $1,000 deposit. Deposits are non refundable except in cases of medical necessity. This deposit will be applied toward your invoice, which must be paid in full by June 1, 2010.

Tuition and Fees
* $75 Application Fee is non-refundable and applied toward Workshop tuition, if accepted.
* $3,420/$2,570 Residential/Non-Residential (no housing and no meals) for the full three week program.
NOTE: All payments are non-refundable unless by special arrangement with the Director of Midwest Young Artists with a Doctor’s excuse.
