Pianist, educator, and audio engineer - Dan Pierson is a Chicagoland native and MYAC alumnus. He received his BM in Jazz Studies at the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana where he studied with Chip Stephens, Jim Pugh, Donnie Heitler, and Chip McNeil. After school Pierson relocated directly to Chicago and has become involved in countless artistic pursuits. In 2011, he co-founded improvisational piano trio "Rooms" with whom he has developed a large repertoire of original music that pulls from Jazz, Western Classical, Rock, and Electronic influences. Pierson regularly teaches in group and private settings - he is dedicated to guiding his students along their respective paths while ensuring that their fundamental understanding of key musical concepts is consistently addressed. Pierson’s primary teachers include : Emilio del Rosario, Alan Swain, and Joan Hickey.
