Jeff Nelson is director of MYA's choral chamber music ensembles and assists with the Chorale. In addition to his work at MYA, Jeff teaches voice and composition throughout the Chicago area and holds a position as an Assistant Lecturer at Northwestern University teaching theory and aural skills. Jeff has also spent four summers in Maine teaching at the summer music program at Camp Encore/Coda where he directs the composition program, musical theater, and conducts multiple choruses.
Jeff received his B.M. in composition and M.M. in instrumental conducting from Oberlin College as well as his M.M. in music education from Northwestern University. Currently, he is finishing his D.M. in composition at Northwestern.
