
Julian Ross, Professor of Violin; Chair, Department of String Instruments; member of the Elysian Trio. D.M.A., Rutgers University; M.M., Eastman School of Music; B.M., Cincinnati College Conservatory. In great demand as a performer of new works, he has made numerous appearances as soloist in concertos that he has commissioned and premiered. As violinist on the faculty of Memphis State University for eight years, he performed as a member of the Memphis Piano Quartet. During that time, Ross appeared as a guest artist on tours in the U.S. and Europe with the Musical Arts Consortium and the New Orchestra of Boston and toured extensively as a founding member of the Arcadia trio. In addition, he served as President of the Tennessee Chapter of the American String Teachers Association and Vice-president of the Memphis Composer's Alliance. In 1995, he joined the faculty of Florida State University and performed as concertmaster of the Tallahassee Symphony. Ross taught and performed for over ten years at the Yellow Barn Music Festival, and more recently has been on the violin faculties of the Brevard Music Center and the Blue Mountain Music Festival. In addition, he founded and directs the Front Street Intensive, an intensive summer workshop for violin students at Baldwin-Wallace. He has performed at many other summer festivals, including Aspen, Aria International, the Heidelberg Schloss Spiele, the New College and the Rutgers Summerfest. He has authored two volumes of technical materials for his violin students, "Right From the Start" and "I Wish I'd Practiced That," and he has been called upon to give master classes for schools such as Indiana University Summer String Academy and the Cincinnati College Conservatory. In 1995, Ross was recipient of the Elizabeth Wycoff-Durham award in music performance.
Louise Zeitlin, Lecturer in Viola. M.M., Yale University; B.M., Eastman School of Music. Ms. Zeitlin has been featured as recitalist and chamber musician throughout the United States. She has played with the Minnesota Orchestra, St.Paul Chamber Orchestra, and Chicago String Ensemble and is currently Principal Viola with the Baldwin-Wallace Bach Festival Orchestra. She is a former faculty member at the Cleveland Institute of Music, Carleton College and the MacPhail Center for the Arts (Minnesota). Ms. Zeitlin is a current board member of the American Viola Society and founding member and board member of the Ohio Viola Society. Recent honors include an award for teaching given by the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts, the Founder’s Award given by the American Viola Society and inclusion in the 2006 version of “Who’s Who” in America.
Regina Mushabac, Professor of Cello. M.M., B.M., Indiana University. Ms. Mushabac was a teaching assistant to Janos Starker and had additional study with Leonard Rose and Bernard Greenhouse. She is a founding member of the Coryton Trio and the Elysian Trio, B-W's resident piano trio, with which she performed for 19 years. Active as a soloist with orchestra and a recitalist throughout the U.S. and abroad, she has performed at Carnegie Hall, Carnegie Recital Hall, Severance Hall, and the World's Fair. She has been the recipient of multiple awards from the Concert Artists Guild and Ohio Arts Council, and is a former faculty member of the University of Kentucky, and guest artist and visiting professor at the University of San Paulo, Brazil. She is well known for her exploration into new music and original transcriptions of classics. Ms. Mushabac has solo recordings on the GM Recording label, Truemedia Records, and New World Records.
