Carrie Dennis recently joined the Los Angeles Philharmonic this fall as Principal Viola, following a two year position as Principal Viola with the Berlin Philharmonic from 2006 - 2008. Previously Ms. Dennis held the position of Assistant Principal Viola of the Philadelphia Orchestra, a position she was awarded in 2002.
A native of Evanston, IL, Carrie attended Evanston Township High School and played both violin and viola in the Midwest Young Artists orchestra and chamber music programs before leaving home at age 16 to attend the prestigious Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. Throughout her studies at Curtis, Ms. Dennis was a member of the Curtis Symphony, the Curtis Opera Orchestra, and the Curtis Lab Orchestra. She has participated in such festivals as Marlboro, Music from Angel Fire, Verbier, Tanglewood, Sarasota, and the New York Strings Seminar. She has studied viola with Joseph de Pasquale and Michael Tree, and violin with Victor Danchenko and Roland and Almita Vamos.
